This is my 2nd year with the pond; it's a blast. My pond is about 6000 gallons and growing. It has a bog filter that works marvelously. Has about 500 sq ft of surface area and I'm STILL trying to get enough of the surface covered with 13 water lilies, 1 lotus, several pickerel, and various other surface and floating plants so far. One recommendation: DO NOT USE DYE UNLESS YOU REALLY LIKE IT. Put some in last year when I had almost no surface plants and my water still has a tinge to it even after almost a year and several water changes and top offs with charcoal filtration as well. Pond currently houses 9 koi, 7 orfe, 1 albino channel cat, several dozen rosy red minnows, 1 chinese banded hi-fin, about 6 leopard frogs, about a million tiny tadpoles, several bullfrog tadpoles and several eastern newts. Even at this stocking density, the bog filter and 2 tetra cannisters keep the ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate undetectable.

I live in: United States

My zone is: South/centralPA
