I am an architect living in Northern Virginia near DC. I have slowly been evolving my back yard into a Japanese garden for the past 10 years. There was some existing plant stock and I have added more and more in the Japanese spirit. In 2003 I went to visit ground zero and got on the wrong subway. Instead of going back uptown I found myself going into Brooklyn. Looking at the map I noticed Brooklyn Botanical Garden. The rest is history. My main concern is to learn how to prune to enhance the view of the tree and underlying truck structure.
