I am a total newcomer to gardening. On retirement a couple of years ago, I set out just to pull out a scraggy hedge on one side of my small garden and erect a fence. I also had an idea of relaying some old crazy paving. But things got a bit out of hand and I found that I had dug up and flattened my entire garden.

So I had to learn how to erect a summerhouse, lay a patio and build some low retaining walls. Even when this was done I had a garden with no plants and no knowledge of plants. With the aid of 20 packets of perennial seeds and a few books I have just started the learning process!

My objective is plenty of colour with long flowering perennials roughly tilted towards blues, pinks and purples.
