Dec 2011 - I'm finally a Master Gardener!! Been talking about it for years - finally did it! We've had two years of rainy springs followed by dry summers. Although, this year was not as bad as last. I think it is just Mother Natures way of weeding out the weak plants and non-committed gardeners. Well, it almost worked - I was about ready to just quit when DH challenged me to take the Master Gardner Class. It worked, I'm more committed than ever. Yes, I have more than I can take care of! Need some plants, come on over! I'm taming the wilderness on 7 acres in western Kentucky. Mostly wooded, I do have several sunny gardens: Border of Native Plants, Daylilies, LA & Japanese Iris, Butterfly Garden, Herb Gardens, Grass Garden, Sedum Collection, Shrub Border, Wild & Woolly Garden at the Woods, White Garden. The shady ones: Collection of Heucheras, Hostas, Ferns, Native Woodland Area, 4) Trial Beds for seeds/cuttings. Projects in 2012 include: adding to a new bed for HISTORIC IRIS, enlarging my woodland native area, Finishing the White Garden and the 'Fairy Garden', giving away tons of plants, mostly Daylilies and things that I can do without. My favorite plants are Poppies, Geraniums, Iris and plants with interesting foliage. Especially Heucheras and Tiarellas. I grow and cook with fresh herbs. (Although there's not much cooking going on during Gardening Season.)
