Grandfather had an orange orchard in Irvine and later a beautiful hillside rose garden in Newport Beach.

I like to play in the dirt and grow stuff that looks nice and taste good too.

A first-time homeowner who took two years to landscape the small front yard (as in took the crab grass roots out by hand and amended the soil one shovel-full at a time with the neighbors complaining that they were tired the dusty, muddy barren earth look -- guys who told me that I didn't move to the prairie are now they're tearing up their lawns - Ha!)and am now directing my attention to the small back yard -- big ideas and little spare time.
