Grow lots of plants and goldfish in my greenhouse; especially like amaryllis and hibiscus. I started forcing spring bulbs in '04 by prechilling them in a small bar fridge for ~3 months and then rooting them in an unheated garage. Tried tulips, daffodils, crocus, dutch iris, and chinodoxia. Now I concentrate on tulips and daffodils. I built an insulated box from rigid foam insulation and the bar fridge minus its door. Its divided into two compartments, one averaging 48F, the other 40F, allowing me to prechill bulbs at two different rates. Works out quite well, so I continue to force around 1000 bulbs per winter (have about 800 so far this year, and waiting for closeouts to buy more).
