I am a chemistry professor and I live in a beautiful spot on the banks of the Merrimack River. Our house sits up high on a hill and is surrounded by trees, fir in the front and mixed deciduous in the back. Our garage gets the southern exposure! I try to keep the garden as natural as possible, but I like to plant some woodland gardens. In the warm months I tend to stay outdoors all day on weekends "gardening" which is really a euphemism for yard work. When my children were little they would stand on the front steps as it got dark and call me, "Mommy, it's dark. Aren't you going to fix us dinner?" Our dark little family secret has always been my overgardening. But combined with taking classical guitar lessons, this hobby has allowed me to maintain my sanity.
