I love gardening since I was a little girl and folowed my grandfather who was a great gardener and tought me to love gardening as much as he did. For a funny story, here it goes: my grandfather used to collect rain water in old kitchen oil cans (no plastic at that time, as it is today) and I watched him water the plants with that water all the time (there were many, many lined up everywhere). One day I went grocery shopping with my mother and when we got home my mother went straight to the kitchen to prepare lunch. I always sat nearby as I also loved to see my mom cooking. My mother told us, over and over again, that on that day when she looked for the oil can which was supposed to be on the countertop, she couldn't find it; the second disappearance was, obviously, me. When she went looking for me in the garden she found both, me and the can of oil, as I was happily "watering" the flowers with it. In time, I was about 5 or 6 years old. It is insteresting because I never forgot this story, even though I have no recollection of the "actual event", the story being told so many times makes me remember it everytime I water my flowers. It is a good and sweet memory, not only for my "first gardenng experience" but also for remembering the ones that have touched my life so deeply.
As of today, I love to grow annuals from seed, I call it my little miracle time, and recently I entered the exciting world of growing perennials (some also being grown from seed). I love roses, camelias, gardenias and magnolias (was busy last Spring/Summer). I moved to PA end of summer 2002 from Florida and it has been a great experience, since here I am able to grow different plants that would not survive down there. Came accross this site through a websearch looking for sourves of potted peonies and found the forum excellent and I am very happy to join.
