This description will be a work in progress, so pardon the dust.
My wife, 6 children and I live in south central Missouri. I am Christopher (or you can call me Chris if that works for you), my wife's name is Yun (she is Chinese, but has lived in the US since she was nine), and my children are Sarah (10), Jedidiah (8), Gilgal (6), William (4), David (3), and John (1). Yes, a very, very full house.
One of the things that we like most about GW so far is how authentic and genuine folks are. Life is very short, even if you live to one hundred, and I just can't stand putting on airs.
We have a passion for eating healthy food. Since this is the case, it has lead us eventually all the way to the soil, where all of our food ultimately comes from and goes to.
We have lived on our "small farm" for just shy of three years now (2004). Our goal as a family is to make our income from farming here. One of us (Jedidiah) is just nuts about honeybees. This spring we finally bought four packages of bees. He is already working on how we will arrive at forty or fifty colonies of bees. More power to him. My daughter Sarah is very much interested in crafts and cut flower arrangements (in addition to this she makes wonderful cookies....yum yum). As for my wife and I, we are working on establishing about two acres of vegetable growing area for selling in season produce. My wife, I must add, dearly looks forward to a return to sanity for this family sometime in the near future. I owe her a lot for her patience and encouragement.
