"Consider the lilies, they toil not" . . . but man, do we!
We live in a historic part of town and have a smallish lot overfilled with clematis, lilies, bulbs, echinacea, shastas, hosta, peonies, perennials, annuals, birds, bugs, butterflies and squirrels (they have to eat, too). Seems we attract "cats from the hood" as well. Our garden is a Certified Wildlife Habitat and a Monarch Waystation.
My DH and I garden together - it’s a point and dig plan; I point and he digs. My philosophy is - "if you can see dirt, you have room for another plant". He likes to see mulch. We have a beautiful arrangement where we walk to the park every week to see the mulch.
Soli Deo Gloria!
