After many years farming and veg/fruit gardening in the UK, on a range of acreages from small intensive to a hill farm, interspersed with a few years in Australia (1979-92) owning a sheep and cattle property, plus farming a large arable acreage on a sharefarming basis, my wife and I became tired of wet summers and cold winters, but decided Australia was too hot to return to and moved to a small farm in Portugal early in 2003. We produce olives and wine grapes as well as growing as wide a range of veg as possible, and have moved into forage production and small scale grain and pulse production with a view to introducing some livestock. Most of my past experience is in poultry, pigs, sheep and cattle, plus a bit with goats and horses. Probably in that order.
