I have a home in the Portland Metropolitan area and a second home at the coast. Portland is a city of many micro climates and its one of lifes challanges to discover what yours is. Although my home is in the Tualatin Valley I suffer harder freezes that homes at much higher elevation. I also have heavy, wet clay soil that many plants just refuse to grow in. I can amend all day for annuals and perenials but some trees just wont grow in my yard.

At the coast, the soil is sandy and quick draining, and the temperatures are much milder so my choice in plant material is wider.

I love fragarance in the garden and Im always looking for something beautiful and smells good. So many new varieties of old standards have lost their scent.
