I just graduated with a Masters Degree in Biology from Texas State University. If you know anyone whos looking to hire a biologist, especially for field biology or ecology, let me know. I have been gardening since I was 12, but had to stop for a while when I moved out of my parents place to go to college and live in dorms and apartments. Now Ive just moved into a rental house and am starting a huge vegetable garden in the backyard. Im mostly interested in heirlooms and heritage varieties, especially those grown by southwestern Native Americans, since they do well in my hot, hot climate. My goal is to one day grow all the vegetables I can eat. In the parts of my yard that are unsuitable to vegetable growing, Im sowing native plants like wildflowers and prairie grasses. The research I did in grad school required a lot of knowledge of native plants and I love to see them coming up in my yard. Im trying to eradicate what Bermuda grass there is and have it all "weeds" like Indian blanket, tropical sage, sunflowers, pigeonberry, straggler daisy, rain lily, bristlegrass, chile pequin, and whatever else decides to show up! It sure feels great to be back in the soil again!
