I have been gardening somewhat throughout my entire life by being active in family gardens as I was growing up. I have spent a few too many years moving around and renting to be able to enjoy my own garden up until now (unless you count house plants and patio containers). We have finally bought our own house with a nice big yard and I have managed to put in a single block square foot garden, despite the fact that it is getting pretty late in the year. Things appear to be going well so far.... I hope to continue the garden into the fall this year, expand it a lot next spring, and maybe even tackle some winter gardening after that! We have a ton of stuff on our to-do list.... Our house came with a lot of landscaping, mostly overgrown. So I will be spending plenty of time trying to sort all the plants out and try to figure out what is supposed to be growing and what is not. I will also be digging a slew of bulbs in the fall and I hardly even know where to begin. Oh, and there is only one rosebush on our property, which I consider a travesty, :) so that is another major task for the spring. Somewhere in there we want to build a greenhouse. Looks like I've got my work cut out for me, huh? :)
