I love growing things indoors and out. I live where the soil is very sandy, but things seem to grow just fine without much help from me. I'm about to embark on a composting adventure to see if I can get more organic material into my vegetable garden, so it will hold water better. In the summer, each night while supper cooks, I raid my garden for a handful of beans, peas, baby carrots, tomatoes, kohlrabi -- whatever is ripe -- and I quickly wash them and put them on a platter with some dill or ranch dip. My friends and family just love this super-fresh appetizer. I also love feeding birds. Our yard is a big open sunny area right next to a bog and a lake, so we have a diverse ecosystem that attracts a lot of wildlife. It's my own little paradise!
