A few years ago we inherited my mother-in-laws home. (She remarried and moved upstate) Its by no means my "dream home", but it has a lot of potential. We live in a small town just northeast of Memphis, TN.

We are on about a half an acre and when we moved in there was not even one tree or shrub planted. My vision is to create a living fence by outlining the property with trees and shrubs. So far its a slow process!

I have four children, two of which are grown and have their own children. (a grandmother of 5 at the age of 45!!) I still have two at home ages 16 and 17. Ive been married to very gardening challenged man for the past 20 years. He loves to mow the lawn (I think he feels like a farmer riding his lawn mower) So....my vision for shrinking the lawn is a constant battle!! We compromise about many things.  He has to have Burmuda grass, I have to have Flower beds.  so I deal with the weeding. (hmmm, doesnt really sound fair does it?)

I am self-employed or semi-retired, depends on how you look at it really.  I make candles and bath and body products....I even have a gardeners soap that contains coffee grounds...its GREAT for washing away dirty grime from being in the garden.  Ive even been known to trade a bar or two of soap for plants!

Ive been a member of GardenWeb for many years but am not an avid poster.  I usually just Google answers to my questions because I know it can be frustrating to have the same question asked a million times over..  I have however, met a few friends here that are wonderful.

My interests are propagating, herb gardening and this year I have developed a love for roses.  Actually, I have always loved growing roses but had to leave them all behind when we moved so Im starting over this year.  Im a novice really, but it doesnt mean I love them any less!  Im looking forward to learning from the more experienced rose growers on this forum.
