When my husband retired 3+ years ago we settled on 20 timbered acres (near Truman Lake in the Missouri Ozark Mountain foothills) where we started from scratch - cleared the house site, dug a well, and so on, and just last Spring were to a point where we could start landscaping. We saved all the trees we could - lots of oaks and cedars, some walnuts and such, and I intend to plant only native wildflowers and perennials and and maybe get a few more trees - a couple of pines and some fruit trees. Up until the lake was built, this area had been farmed, so the soil is real good and some other poor soul picked up most of the rocks. We're both new at this and are also learning how to do more woodworking so we can build flower boxes and stuff as we need them. So: I know that I'll be spending a lot of time at the Garden Web and That Home Site. It's going to be fun!
