Marquette, Michigan in the Upper Peninsula near Lake Superior.

Fairly new to gardening. Had irises in the yard when home was purchased and some daylilies. Neither were blooming much. Two large old lilacs in backyard.

Planted tulip bulbs fall of 2001 mixed in with the irises. Came up nicely in spring.

Spring of 2002, made new raised beds, large with cannas and small with petunias. Made other beds bordered with bricks with various annuals. Relocated daylilies to new location in a new raised bed.

August 2002, dug up all irises, most of which were along south side of home. Made new raised beds. Separated and replanted irises along with existing tulips.

Fall 2002, traded some purple iris for white with friend. Added a couple other iris. Planted more tulips, daffodils, asiatic lilies and alliums.

Can't wait to see how it all turns out this year. Adding clematis, trumpet vines, honeysuckle, dahlias, butterfly bushes, new hedge, etc. Will also have containers on new larger deck this year.

2003. The bulb beds on south side of house turned out great this year. Compliments from the neighbors.
First year for dahlias. They turned out great. Hope they survive the storage over winter.
Added another bed next to the new deck in fall with bulbs but need to add some perenials.
