I have been growing carnivorous plants and succulents since I was about 12 or so. I am getting up there now at 40. I also like bromeliads, and have a small collection of those.
My favorite succulents are cacti, zoom in on barrel cacti and mammillaria, also the mesembs (lithops).
I enjoy out door gardening and live in the St. Petersburg Florida area. While zone 9b the surrounding areas of water (Gulf of Mexico and Tampa Bay) create a micro climate that insulates the local area from the coldest winter weather that affects this part of Florida inland. You can see and grow plants here that normally grow about 125 miles farther south.
With out a doubt my favorite plants in the world are the carnivorous pitcher plants, both American and tropical.
