I have about 3/4 acre that is mostly cultivated with various kinds of gardens: rock, butterfly, hummingbird, herb,vegetable, perennial, rose- plus we have a pool, a treehouse, ducks, rabbits, chickens, cats, and dogs running loose in the fenced back area. I do almost all of the work (except heavy hardscaping and mowing) myself. My two kids, ages 15 and 5, help out a little, adding their favorite plants to the gardening agenda every year, but mostly taking care of the animals. We use no pesticides or herbicides and garden organically- mostly out of concern for the kids and pets. I guess you could say that I've always had a green thumb, but I think it is just attention paid when needed to any living thing in your care.
