My husband and I moved into my childhood home in the summer of 2009, and I've caught the gardening bug, wave 2. I'm now responsible for my mom's garden of 30 years, and I naturally gravitate towards earth-friendly practices. I'm especially interested in growing interesting edible plants organically, as well as a smattering of easy-care cutting flowers. I use a loose interpretation of Square Foot Gardening for my vegetable beds. Low maintenance gardens are important to me. In addition to my ever-growing gardening hobby, I am a mama with a home-based textile craft business, who loves camping, rock climbing, sewing and yoga. I grew up in Washington DC, went to college in Maine, spent a summer on a boat in an excellent SEA education program, then moved to Pittsburgh with the man I married several years later. We returned to the DC area in the mid '90s and are currently ensconced in the energy efficient house my parents built when I was 7.
