I just started my first garden this year and it is a square-foot garden. We bought 3 yards of dirt and made the beds out of cedar fence boards. Whew!

I have nine 4 foot x 4 foot deep beds. They contain scarlet runner beans, bush beans, and Kentucky Wonder Pole beans. Also carrots, red onions, yellow onions, green onions, peas, and tomatoes (Roma and Beefsteak).

I planted lots of broccoli this year and made the newbie mistake of planting them too late, I'm hoping to beat the odds and get some heads anyway.

I also have one 5 foot x 5 foot deep bed with pure compost. In this one, I'm growing watermelon, pumpkin, and canteloupe. All my neighbors tell me I can't grow canteloupe here, I'm hoping to prove them wrong!!

I've also just started some herbs: basil/oregano/parsley. Also some catnip for my beloved feline friend!

My total growing area is about 14 feet by 35 feet (490 square feet).

I live in: Canada

My zone is: 8a Canada
