When I was a child, I remember my grandmother taking her company on a walk through her garden, talking about her plants, taking cuttings to send home with them, and telling how each plant came to be in her care. Today I do much the same thing. Some friends say they cannot walk through their garden without thinking of me. Nice!!

I live in urban Mobile Alabama, where everything grows with reckless abandon. Keeping it in check is a big job!! Also, I am a great believer in mulching, using \"found\" objects, living in my garden, and treading lightly upon the earth. I made some choices of plants because they memorialized my family or friends--like the Lady Banks rose, the Purple Dawn camellia, the Don Juan rose, the lavender crepe myrtle, a carpet of mondo grass. I have a yen for the tropical casual lifestyle, love Jimmy Buffett songs and Caribbean Soul shirts. I have presently 2 parrots --1 adopted, one with me all his life. MoonPie maltese boy, Dixie dachshund girl, make up the rest of the entourage. I love taking pictures. Parrots, gardening, shutters, old architecture and tropical style are lifelong passions.
