I have been gardening for more than 50 years (started as a VERY little girl at my grandparents side). We are re-claiming my grandparents OLD established, weed filled, too shady 3/4 acre garden in upstate NY. I love herbs, scented roses, cutting flowers especially fragrant ones, heirloom plants and NATIVES. We have an organic vegetable garden. We harvest beans, peas, lettuce, chard, cukes, potatoes, sweet peppers, summer squash, onions, garlic, pumpkins, tomatoes, cabbage, brocolli, leeks, kales, corn, strawberries and little asparagus. We also have grapes, some wild black raspberries, apples, pears, couple currants, gooseberries, and two five blueberries. I love to can and freeze the harvest and I bake my own bread. We have a small apiary and a flock of chickens. We also made a pond and falls. I wintersow most of what I plant. We have a lakefront camp in the Adirondacks. I like to kayak, sail, walk in the woods, and have campfires on the beach. Oh, I teach scouts and some community groups about Wild Plant Identifiction, Edible Wild Plants and Edible Flowers. I am seldom without my camera. I am also writing a book about Adirondack wild flowers. DH calls me Miss Kimmie.
