Hi!
I wanted to be "Mary Gardener" or at least "Merry Gardener". I thought I was very clever and creative coming up with that name, but I soon found that someone else was just as clever and earlier than I, so I became Miss Mudcat (short for Mississippi Mudcat); it was my uncle's "handle" and I was very fond of it as a little girl.

Yes, I am from Mississippi, but have lived and gardened in a few states: Alabama, Wisconsin and presently Indiana. What a challenge to garden in Wisconsin after learning and living in Mississippi for 24 years!

I am married with 4 children, so far, and we all garden together almost daily. As a result, my oldest child, 9, is far more knowledgable about gardening than I at that age and moreso than most adults I know. My youngest, 2, is perfectly capable of differentiating between the weeds and the veggies, and so helps me a great deal in that area without stress or worry. (However, he will sneak in the garden from time to time and pull a few carrots for himself, but usually it's the sweet peas he's after!)

Looking forward to learning more about gardening, and, hopefully, getting to know some of you.
