I have always loved flowers of all kinds. As a child I would always want to help my Mom and Grandmother in the yard or garden. Although, my Mother had lots of flowers around our house, there were always some that I would see elsewhere and want to add, so Momma started letting me help her choose additions to the flower gardens. Then in high school, after the boys that I liked did not show up at my door bearing armloads of flowers (hehe....apparently I expected young men to know that this was not only the proper thing to do, but also the \"cool\" thing to impress me), I decided that if I wanted flowers -- lots and lots of them -- that I would have to grow them myself! So I started asking my Mother to buy all different kinds of flower seeds, and then it became plants, until pretty soon she more or less turned our yard and planters on the proch over to me. She loved flowers as much as I did, and up until her death this year she would come dragging home plants and seeds from all over for me and we could spend hours \"talking\" flowers and making plans for various projects and such. I miss talking to her about my flowers and am glad I recently found GardenWeb so I can talk to others about them and all my ideas. I wish I had discovered it before Momma passed away.....I've had so much fun the past few weeks on the Plant and Seed Exchange.....Momma would have thought that was so neat because she was one of those people that would offer seeds or seedlings to anyone who asked and if she saw an
unusual plant she'd ask for seeds or sprouts. I guess I take after her, cause I do the same. =-) There's just something about flowers and plants that give comfort and peace to our surrounding, I think. And now that Momma is no longer with us, \"our\" flowers mean even more to me and lets me know that she IS still with me.
