I am a gardener in Houston where the winters are mild and the summers are hot; rainfall is abundant all year round. I plant on a fall-winter-spring schedule and consider summer as the off season. I avoid "bedding out." Instead, I enjoy naturalizing bulbs, reseeding annuals and flowering perennials. My favorite nurseries are: Joshua's Native Plants, Another Place and Time, Buchannan's (all in the Heights), and Teas's (for bulbs especially).

I am always on the lookout for small or rare Gulf Coast friendly bulb selections. My current wish list includes Herbertia, Alophia (Pine Woods Lily) and different naturalizing Narcissus and Jonquil varieties.
