I love to work in my garden, but I will admit I am far from being a 'great' gardener. I love to get cuttings and "dug up" plants from friends to see what they will do in my yard. I try to support the effort here to plant and maintain native species and I am always looking for advice. My husband and I put in our second vegetable garden this year and it did better than last year(despite an invasion of leaf-footed wheel bugs- identified with help from GardenWeb), so I have high hopes for next year. I am starting to believe that the homeowner before the homeowner from whom we bought our house was a gardener because when I cleared all the beds the last owner had buried under pine straw lots of bulbs and plants started coming up (day lillies, spider lillies, little white 'bell-looking flowers', etc), so I am having fun discovering what's there and what we can add to it.
