I just moved to be near my daughter due to illness and am having to start a garden from scratch. I left 4 acres, complete with an orchard and many flower beds, to move to .16 of an acre. I am in the process of having a 4 ft. fence erected for my dogs around the small back yard - only 19 ft. deep x 100 ft wide. I did manage to move 4 roses, 4 peonies, 4 irises, a shovel of candy tuff, and then suffered a "heart episode" that night. Guess who was out buying Round-Up today to kill the roots of the darn privet hedge I had pulled up to leave a place for my flowers? I don't have anything to exchange except a few red giant hibiscus seeds. If you know of any plant suitable for such a small area please let me know. The fence will give me a place to plant against and should get afternoon sun along the 100 ft section.
