Have been running my pond now for 2 1/2 years and seen through 2 winters. It is 2.5 meter square but only 20cm deep! I know it is too shallow but the pond came with the house. It is sealed concrete with raised water fall platform over the far corner 1 meter square with a drop height of 40 cm! with the assistance of slate to cushion the fall! and decking around 2 sides. It is a decorative pond only really but I am trying to get life into it without it filling with blanket weed. I would design a pond completely different to this. I have 4 canary yellow gold fish and 2 shubumbkins (sp!) and they had babies last year, 2004, that survived the winter. Am running bioforce 4500 pre 2002 model. I have a lot to learn as well as learning how to make the best of a bad design.
