I started to garden in 2001. Always wanted to garden, but had to wait until my 2 boys (now ages 13 and 18) were older, thus affording me more time to garden. I put in a perennial garden in 2001 and have seen it evolve over the last few years. I have also evolved as a gardener. It has now grown from an interest to a hobby to an addiction! I still have much to learn. The first thing I do every morning is go out to our sunroom to look over the yard and plants even though they don't change much from day to day. I find myself gazing out the windows repeatedly whenever I'm home just to look and get ideas of what I want to do next. Every summer, I add another garden area to our yard. I daydream about my planned projects and about which plants I want to add. Another obsession is conifers and other evergreen shrubs. A major goal is to enclose the yard (which is quite open to the neighbors and affords little privacy) in a mixed shrub border that gives us more of a sense of seclusion. I'm hoping this project will be done by the time that I retire so that I can finally rest and enjoy the fruits of my labor! Marilyn
