Hi!

My name is Marilyn Burns. I am 48 years old, and haved lived and gardened in the Great Lakes Region my entire life. I was born and lived in the Toledo, Ohio area as a young child, and was later transplanted when the family moved to outside of Chicago, Il. I have been to both Lakes Erie and Michigan on numerous occassions, and still go whenever possible. Now I live just about 1/2 way between the two in Northern Indiana. We live on a small inland lake. The same geology that created the Great Lakes also created the numerous inland lakes that stud the region.

I have been married going on thirty years, have a wonderful husband, two grown daughters, four grandchildren, and two old garden cats. Quite a menagerie! Anyway, when I am not at my job as a nurse (have been a nurse for 18 years), I am either at college or puttering around in my garden or tweeking my website on gardening. I also do freelance writing on gardening, and also have a new column on Suite 101 called Gardening Along The Great Lakes. I used to do some freelance garden designing, but now I mostly write about it, and concentrate my designs on my own yard.

I look forward to meeting my neighbors in the Great Lakes Region, and I can't wait to read some of the entries in the Great Lakes Forum!
