I garden on half an acre in east central Sweden in approx. USDA zone 6 since 11 years. Thanks to the Gulf Stream our climate is more benign than can be expected from being on the 59th parallel but our growing season is short.
I collect roses by Austro-Hungarian breeder Rudolf Geschwind and all hardy climbers that I can find, not an easy task. I am lucky to have a husband just as keen on gardening as I am, and able and willing to build any necessary structures for our 150 varieties. My husband prefers gallicas and rugosas before all other classes. My tastes are more general, and I like to take a few risks with less hardy roses.
Other favourite plants are hardy geraniums, primulas and hostas. I am interested in garden history and rose history.
I am a member of several networks and societies for preserving old and rare roses. At present I am involved in a nationwide project for discovering and preserving older roses in Sweden.
I live in: Sweden
My zone is: mid-Sweden
My favorite forum 1 is Antique Roses.
