I recently inherited a century house and am going through a turbulent time getting used to home ownership. We had lived on the 18th floor of an apartment for 28 years and any problems were handled by the super.

My four sons were raised in this apartment but the three who still live with me are excited about moving and finally getting their own rooms.

There is a lot of painting and papering coming up along with grass cutting and snow shoveling.

The funny thing is , I grew up in this house , but now it feels like a foreign country.

I guess the way to cure my blues is to renovate and change things around to make it my own

I enjoy gardening and my balcony was always full of blooms. I found that bumblebees really enjoyed it, especially the morning glories, which I had trailed like a canopy over the seating area.

Now, with a house I will be able to indulge my fantasies and plan a perennial garden with lots of grasses.
