Living in Michigan has to be the best experience ever. The changes of the seasons is always spectacular here. I don't like the winters much - but I don't have to weed them so that is a plus! Our family likes to camp up on the golden sands of Lake Michigan in the Manistee National Forest. It is there we go to unwind at least once a year, and the place that our 5 grown children bring their families and friends for a vacation.
I have been gardening for over 40 years now and still don't have it down pat! Recently I got into the Winter Sowing and do believe that was the best idea since sliced bread as I never could grow anything from seed in the past 40 years - they would either get too leggy or rot and fall over! I had about 99% success rate with Winter Sowing last year - you ought to try it too!
2002 I "discovered" Brugmansia - and so did my neighbors who were astounded as these beauties. One neighbor even made me up a little photo album for my birthday and titled it "The Year of the Brugmansia, 2002" and he had pictures of all my brugs at different stages. Lovely surprise! We live on a cul-de-sac with just 10 homes on the street and we are lucky to have wonderful neighbors who also love to garden! We have traded so many plants over the years that it is getting hard to tell much of a difference between the yards. We have no fences between the houses so it is like a lovely parklands as you look down the street. I have some photos on my website and other garden photos albums online.
