I am a country girl aged 59 whose birthplace (Scarborough, Ontario, Canada) was swallowed up by the big bad city (Toronto). Ive been homesick ever since...until 2001 when I bought a house and 32 acres in the Quinte region of Ontario. Not so far from where my mother and her ancestors were born and raised, so in a sense this has been a homecoming for me.

I love country life but I must make this place work for me too. I am very creative - I write, paint a little and hand-craft beautiful antique-style teddy bears. I have completed a childrens novel, The Bears of Bluebell Wood, which is now making the rounds of publishers and am hard at work on an historical novel set in Hastings County, just north of where I live.

I share this enterprise with my friend and partner Brian. We keep a small flock of Dominique chickens, Pilgrim geese and rabbits. I also grow herbs, vegetables and perennials. Id like to expand our projects to include a couple of dairy goats and a pig or two for the freezer. I am particularly interested in heritage plants and livestock as well as time-honoured country skills.
