I'm lucky enough to have married a farmer, which means I have a country garden large enough to accomodate my ever-expanding collection of roses...my favourite time of the year is autumn when all the new catalogues come rolling in and I can start planning new beds. I don't like hybrid teas or mini roses , but am passionate about shrub-like roses...David Austins, old fashioned roses, some of the Alister Clarks, and modern shrub roses. I stopped counting how many roses have appeared at our place during the past decade when it began to be embarrassing - somewhere around 700 several years ago...made me realize I had no self-restraint when it came to roses! I also love growing own-root roses and propagating roses from seed.
