I live on an island in the Mediterranean with my husband who is a Chiropractor and our 2 children, 2 cats, 10 chickens, and assorted frogs and fish, hedgehogs, etc. We have an old stone farm house and about 8,000 square meters of land in a low mountain valley. We practice "square foot" vegetable gardening. There is an orchard with about 60 fruit trees, everything from figs to oranges, persimmons to avocadoes. We have formal gardens, a tropical garden, and a wildlife garden with a pond. My pride and joy are 16 Southern Highbush blueberries that I have had for 4 years. They have been completely trouble free and bear fruit consistently. They are the first on the island. We are completely organic. This island is considered to be zone 9 or 10, depending on who you ask. Our climate is closer to Southern California than anything else, and so water is always an issue. I love all aspects of gardening. Its one of my greatest passions.
