I love animals, pretty much all animals, but my life seems to be centered around the 5 inside cats that own me, as well as the 10-15 outside cats that have adopted me. I'm a firm believer in spay/neuter, though, and I make sure all my critters are taken care of. The outside cats have all converted to quakerism, and treat each other as friends. They also live peacefully with the bluejays, mockingbirds, crows, doves, and other birds that frequent the feeders. The birds even fly up under the roof of the deck and eat the dry cat food, with the cats just sitting there watching!

This year I've decided to give gardening another try. All previous attempts were half-hearted and I quickly gave up at the first signs of failure. This year's different. I've decided to test the notion that it's impossible to garden organically in this lower alabama climate. There are just so many bugs, the heat and humidity are just oppressive! I'm out to prove the naysayers wrong. I've decided to concentrate on intensive container gardening as my basis for organic gardening. So far, so good. I'm having fun, which is something I never before said about gardening. And, I'm looking forward to my gardening future.
