I started gardening in 1994 when I rented a plot at NCSU. I planted a lot of Asian vegetables that were not readily availabe at local grocery stores at the time, Luffa, Bitter Melon, cucumber, pepper, soybean, Chinese broccoli, tomatoes and other common vegetables.
After graduating from NCSU, I moved to Rochester, NY. The summers there were very pleasant. Near where I lived were several farms and orchards. Cherries and peaches ripe from the tree are just delicious. The next spring start planting my first flower garden. Cosmos, four oclocks, iris, columbine, hosta, lily of the valley, mums and lots of vegetables grew in my small garden.
Later I moved to CO. I love the sunny sky and mountain view but the semi-arid climate is challenging for gardening. I learned as much as I could on gardening in Colorado. It turned out that we could still grow quite a variety of plants and my whole back yard became a huge garden in a couple of years.
