If our job as gardeners is to grow a lot of plants and to kill a few of them, I'm doing my job well. Too well, at times. But I enjoy the adventure of learning by trial and error as much as I enjoy my successes. My garden has many native plants because I enjoy their beauty and the wildlife they attract to my garden. But I'm not a purist. I'm as much a plant-aholic as the next gardener. Partly because I want to do the "right thing" and partly due to laziness (less label reading, more garden book reading), I address garden pest problems with natural methods of control. Freelance garden writer; Co-author of "Gardening for Wildlife, Native Plant Flashcards", jointly produced by The Berry Botanic Garden, the Bureau of Land Management and the OSU 4H Wildlife Steward program (released January 2005).
