We built a new home on 3 and 1/2 acres and there are only a few ugly mulberry trees on the lot. We are going to be doing all the landscaping ourselves and we will have to build a lot of raised beds since the soil is so bad. We were told that our house sits on top of an old ancient river bed. I think we have more rock than we do dirt!! I was able to get a start on the job last year but this will the year to hopefully get a lot more flowers planted. I am going for mostly perennials so that it will one day be less maintenance. I have dreamed of being able to have this much land so I could plant flowers to my hearts desire and now I can!! I feel that God has blessed us. I am thrilled to have found this wonderful site so I can learn everything I can to help me with this big project. It is such a joy to chat with other gardeners and to help others with what seeds I have been able to collect so far and to be able to obtain so many different kinds of flowers, vines, bulbs etc. for my gardens. I want to take the time to thank everyone for being so generous and to thank Spike for this terrific site!!!!
