I garden in Europe/ Switzerland, really zone 7, Basel`s latitude is 47.57 (for comparison: London`s 51.3)New York`s 40.7), so we get some frost but have rather a mild climate, not a scorching one. Lots of rain, heavy good soil, folks grow wine/grapes in the neighboring countryside. -------- Have a small semi-shady border, mainly with Hosta, fern and Hellebores and an allottment, full sun, with perennials (some for cut flowers), do dabble in veggies and am fond of Dahlias and the odd annual flowers. And am getting into berries, playing around with espalier training and dwarf fruit trees because the plot is so little.
