Except for a couple of years in Framingham, MA and another several just outside Valley Forge, PA Ive lived in Fairfax County Virginia all my life. Ive always enjoyed growing summertime tomatoes and spring and fall crops of various greens. In 2003 I quadrupled my garden size, put in an asparagus bed, a strawberry patch, and am growing garlic for the first time after sampling some wonderful home grown in the fall of 2002. The high cost of having Numex green chiles shipped in every September convinced me to attempt growing them too.

About 10 years ago I became interested in southern and Texas style BBQ and have become a decent cook. I also enjoy smoking meats and fish and make my own sausage.

My family consists of my wife and two teenage daughters who because of my gardening obsession have come to the conclusion that "Dads really weird". Fortunately, my two Border Collies very much enjoy me and my garden!

March 2008 Hadnt looked at this profile since I wrote it five years ago. My daughters are now young ladies, the oldest is a third year at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and the younger is a freshman at the University of Delaware.

I was kinda forced into premature retirement because of health issues. Had a bad 2007 but am pretty confident the 2008 gardening season is going to be spectacular -- as long as it rains some!!
