Started the World Pumpkin Confederation competition in 1983. Bred the competition, "Collins Long GOURD" and set world record of 99 inches in 1990. Contributed to The Guinness Book of Records for several years reveiwing record claims and verifing records. In 1988 and 1991 grew the largest pumpkin in the world for that year. Predicted the first 1,000 lb pumpkin in 1986 to be grown within 10 years - it was in 1996 - 1061 lb and presented a $50,000 award to the growers, Paula and Nathan Zehr. ..........
