Hi ! My name is Lee and I’m a heavy equipment operator in Central Florida. I live in Apopka which is just North/West of Orlando.
I got interested in ( fascinated by) Hummingbirds from my Dad, He really enjoyed them.
I started my garden several years ago with a couple of Cigar Plants (Cuphea melvillia) and a Texas Sage Bush and have added Shrimp Plants, Coral Porterweed, Pineapple Sage, Pentas, Trumpet Honeysuckle , a Couple of Fire Bushes, Yellow Bells, Red Yucca, Firecracker Plants, Rose of Sharon hibiscus, Trumpet vine, Turks cap, salvia guarantica and Black and Blue , Indigo spires, Butterfly Pea, Butterfly Bush, Pipevine, Passion Vine, Hercules Club, Rue, False Nettle, Snap Dragon, Cassia, Fennel, Milkweed, Lady in Red salvia and finally Mexican sage ! The Hummers that have been visiting my yard are showing a tremendous amount of favoritism to the Cigar plants with the Shrimp Plants running second. I have also add the Butterfly Garden to "my favorites" and last year(2004) a handful of Central Florida Butterfly Garden Forum were able to meet at a local Nursery. It was nice to put faces with the names we see on the sites.

Last year (2004) , my schedule limited my time in the garden , so I replaced one of my loves, My Veggie Garden, with a less labor intensive Butterfly Garden !!! Now it seems there is always something fluttering or flying in my yard. In addition to nectar plants which the hummers use too, I have larval host plants for the caterpillars to feed on and increase the time the butterfly’s stay in my yard.
I have "grand plants" which I have shared with a couple of other Garden Webbers I have met in Mt Dora, Fl. and North Georgia !
I also visit the Cooking and Harvest Forums as I know my way around a kitchen quite well !

I live in: United States

My zone is: z9FL

My favorite forum 1 is Hummingbird Garden.

My favorite forum 2 is The Garden Party.
