I've been a weekend gardner for years but now that I am retired I spend all my free time in the garden. New gardens abound in our yard. Gardening is a real challenge here on the shore of Lake Huron and my yard has 3 levels. Summer is a short season here - mid May to mid Sept. Before or after these times we can have heavy frost or snow. I plan and dream for 8 months and garden like the devil for the other 4. My biggest challenge in gardening is a husband who doesn't know a weed from an orchid. Keeping him out of the gardens is a challenge.
I love all plants and am constantly adding new growing beds and lots of new plants and varieties. 2004 was my first year of starting seeds and using proper lights. My success was the addition of 61 different varieties of annuals and perennials to add to my gardens. And I'm keen to do it all again.
