Gardening in Cincinnati is a challenge due to really irregular weather patterns from year to year....and soil that's dreadful. When I first moved here from Chicago, it seemed that people gardened from the ground up...never saw so much mulch in my life! Howver, I enjoy the earlier springs and extended falls, along with the hollies that do really well in my yard, despite all the clay? Encouraging a true 3-season perennnial garden is a challenge...I use lots of plants that aren't fussy about soil and dry weather.
