I am a beginning gardener, having started gardening once I took early retirement two years ago. I have just started growing roses in my garden. I live on Vancouver Island, in Victoria. Our property is subject to the occasional high winds (70-90Kmh!) and is partly shaded by large conifers and oak trees, however we do have some rich soil in gardenbeds and at least six hours of sunshine on parts of the garden. I am gradually introducing roses to my perennial border and am planning on adding more when we completely redo the garden in the front of our house.
