I've come back to gardening after MANY years of being fallow (feeble humor attempt here!)My Dad used to grow everything when I was small (late 1950s-early 1960s)-watermelons, figs, pears, veggies at our Houston home. I want to recapture the experience of walking into my yard to eat figs off of the tree, strawberries, rich rosy tomatoes. I want to plant herbs for my husband and I to enjoy in dinner every night, flagstone or brick paths to wander in the cool (cool? in Houston? Who am I kidding??!!) evenings. I now have a wonderful compost heap, too. Like most everyone, I have little or no money to invest, but by hook or by crook, my garden will grow. My DH and I have 5 cats and 4 dogs that we love (and indulge) dearly. Glad to be here!
